It All Begins with an Idea.

This workshop is specifically for classroom teachers who want to design projects that promote critical consciousness, civic engagement, and social equity. Participants will ideate, create, and plan out their own classroom projects that focus on adult-world challenges and experiences. The workshop will act as a classroom where teachers will experience strategies and pedagogies that invite their heads, hearts, and hands into the learning environment. Along with the Deeper Learning Competencies, educators will be encouraged to consider joy and student autonomy as an important educational endeavor. Teachers will leave this session with a full, ready to go project that allows their students to be intellectually stimulated, meaningfully engaged, and authentically included.

You will be guided in:

  • How to design big immersive projects from beginning to end

  • Integrating social justice standards

  • Diversifying learning activities

  • Finding community partners

  • Aligning meaningful and relevant curriculum

  • Creating inclusive demonstrations of knowledge (Exhibitions)

  • Fostering a culturally responsive & accessible learning environment
